The Ivory Pavilion Galgorm

I have said it before how much I love the gems that are on my doorstep. I truly believe that Northern Ireland has some of the most stunning sceneries, coastal paths and walks.

One that is literally on my doorstep is the stunning Galgorm Castle, where Colin and I got our wedding pictures taken 7 years ago and where we still visit regularly. It's the perfect location if we want to stay local and fancy somewhere really pretty to take the girls a walk around as the Fairy Trail is in the grounds of the castle (Elsa lives in the castle you know, just never answers when we knock) or want a beautiful setting for some outfit images.

Right next to the Castle, in the castles walled gardens is The Ivory Pavilion, an exquisite marquee by McLaughlin Marquees. They are known to host the most stunning weddings, ceremonies and cooperate events. The Galgorm Castle estate is home to the Championship Galgorm golf course, Garden Centre and events centre. I purchased my wedding dress from a dress shop behind the castle and each time visiting for a fitting was a treat in itself. The drive up to the castle give me, and still gives me all the feels.

On Saturday I had the pleasure to attend my first event in The Ivory Pavilion since it opened just 18months ago. My mum and I were invited to attend a wreath making workshop that hosted over 75 people with independent stalls to shop from while being served delicious mulled apple. The atmosphere and surroundings was utterly stunning and the best way to start December to get in the festive spirit. It also felt like such a treat to spend the morning just mum and I as with two little ones around we don't get a word in edgeways with one another.

After the wreath making class we made our way from the marquee, through the gardens and over to the castle which was so warm and welcoming. The castle dates back to 1618 and was been beautifully refurbished a few years back but still remains so full of character.

For weddings the castle is used for arrival drinks or to host smaller wedding parties, events or shows. On Saturday mum and I were served a delicious afternoon tea in the drawing room and in front of a roaring fire. The food is provided by a third party company that is planned and organised by Laura, the events manager and someone I've had the pleasure of knowing for years.

As The Ivory Pavilion has only been open for a few years and as it is tucked away in the castles gardens it still feels like such a hidden gem. One that I hope in the years to come will perhaps host an event of my own.

Let's just be clear, it won't be a wreath making workshop.... somethings are best left to the professionals (though I do love my attempt).
