Alcudia 2017

It's almost been a month since our holiday, I don't know what's held me back from writing a little about it? Maybe the fact that I had major holiday blues after. I think on this holiday I noticed (I mean really noticed) how much Bella has grown up, her independence, her conversations and the desire to make friends and include everyone.... it had me bursting with pride.

We stayed in Alcudia Pins in Alcudia, it was right on the most gorgeous golden sand beach, the water was warm and the view was beautiful. The hotel was lovely with great facilities however, it was busy! We were there over bank holiday but it wasn't even peak season.

Our room was lovely, modern and clean but we booked for 2 adults and 2 kids, we had 2 single beds pushed together and a sofa bed for the kids to share (I would have never thought it would work for a 2 year old and 3 year old but actually it worked out fine with them). I always think if the bedroom is clean, comfortable and cool then thats all you need as you only are in and out to get showered and ready for dinner and then a pillow to rest your head.

I have stayed in Thomson hotels before and we definitely will again, the care and service from their staff is second to none, they are amazing with the kids and Thomson the dog rocks the kiddies disco just made the girls light up every night. In the future I hope we can do some independent travel but for now with 2 little ones having a pool, your restaurants right there, unlimited ice cream that means no stressing when it drops 3.2 seconds after it's got and plenty of great entertainment for the kids, it is perfect for us. The package holiday definitely takes the thinking out of it for us, letting us focus on the two girls.

This holiday I did question if I was missing out on more than what I even realised but took great comfort in a friend saying to me that even those working in the home are distracted by the day to day just as much... sometimes a break away is really the only time to totally focus on each other. I think she is right.

Both Colin and myself got asked a lot of times whilst we were away what it is like to holiday with toddlers and that they were thinking of booking a holiday with little ones... honestly, I don't know how to answer it as I know every kid and situation is different.

Though I have left the pool area on 2 occasions with a toddler strapped into the pram, screaming and throwing a tantrum that there is just no talking out of... while carrying what feels like a million inflatables, 2 rubber rings around each arm that look like giant arm bands and feeling thankful for a floppy hat and sunglasses hiding the sweaty red face. The screams were so loud that all 2000 holiday makers were silent, the buzz of the swimming pool stopped and I could see a judgemental glamourous woman peer over her Vogue magazine.... ok, total over exaggeration but 100% how it felt in that moment in time.

Though we have tantrums at home and that doesn't stop because we are in a different time zone.... and with all of that said, which is really 2 tantrums in one week, I totally love traveling with kids. Nothing compares to having a full week of time with them no house work, cooking, working, cleaning and just time with them. There is no relaxing sun lounging time and I didn't even bother bringing a magazine but we wouldn't have it any other way. I filled countless buckets and we made pretend ice creams, I got to discover places, have 'I wish I could bottle this' moments and make memories with the littlest footprints walking beside me and it was all kinds of perfect!

I can't wait to book another week away, so if you are thinking of taking a little one away do it, it might be chaotic just like it is at home but there will be a million perfect moments to outweigh it all and the memories that we have are priceless!
